In most cases breech presentation can be treated using a method known as
Moxibustion. Moxa contains the herb Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) and
can be used for indirect heat treatment. This ancient method has been used for centuries in China to turn breech babies.
The
use of moxibustion changes placental estrogens and prostaglandin
levels, which results in increased fetal heart rate and active fetal
movement.
• Breech babies are ideally treated between 34 – 36 weeks. • Studies show that the use of moxa inside this period is 65% successful.

Traditional Chinese Medicine helps to promote blood circulation to the uterus. Upon conception the use of Chinese herbs can help to prevent miscarriage by assisting in general health and well being ensuring that both Mother and baby are well nourished. Herbs can help to promote the growth of both the uterus as well as the fetus. Acupuncture can assist in reducing stress and control anxiety; this in turn has a calming effect on the fetus also. This combination of Acupuncture and TCM helps to maintain a happy and healthy full term pregnancy.

In traditional Chinese medicine, although the nausea associated with pregnancy can arise from a variety of conditions, these all involve the stomach’s Qi (energy). When pregnancy occurs it affects not only the process of digestion but also the stomach’s energy, This can result in nausea and vomiting. Acupuncture is aimed at strengthening the energetic function of the stomach and correcting any underlying disharmonies. Traditional Chinese herbs may also be of benefit for morning sickness.

Labor induction with acupuncture stimulates uterine contractions and softens the cervix. The treatment starts a hormonal process which stimulates the mother's body to release prostaglandins and oxytocin. As a result, it is a much gentler, non invasive and natural process than Western induction. Acupuncture supports cervical ripening and can shorten the time interval between the woman’s expected date of delivery and the actual time of delivery. Depending on how far into pre-labor the mother's body is determines the number of treatments needed. Some women only need one or two treatments, while others may need several treatments for real labor to start.
